Infographic - Final

Here's my final infographic! I took data of my dog Sassy's habits and put them into an infographic along with what I did that day.

How To - Zine

For our next project, we have to create a "zine" or a mini magazine that shows how to or is a guide for something. I think I'm either going to create my zine about how to grow flowers/plant a tree, how to make paper flowers (actually create some paper flowers for the zine), or how to grow butterflies. Those are my only ideas for now, but I think I'm leaning towards "How to grow flowers or plant a tree" and possibly using some seed paper or pressed flower paper! More to come...just ideas for now!

UPDATE: So I think I've decided to actually go with how to grow butterflies or (monarchs). I think I can create some cool effects with the butterflies via stamps, cutouts (3d), etc. I could also relate a butterfly garden to this (i.e. flowers).

Here are some infographic styles that I like, I think I like the brightly colored ones, they are more appealing. I'm not sure exactly what I want to do yet, but I may get data on how many times my dog barks and why she was barking. Another idea I had was to record how many times I go to each room of my house (kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, stairs, etc.). I had also thought about recording the number of family members I have in a family tree kind of way (possibly including where they live, ages, gender, etc.).

Final Public Service Poster

Public Service Announcement Poster

My public service announcement poster is about how so many people lose or abandon their dogs. I wanted to make a poster that to make people aware of it and so they know that dogs are a huge responsibility. I wanted to evoke a sadness through the poster, so I decided to have a grunge style to my poster. The following websites are where I got my textures, dog watercolor, and dog house plans:

http://www.photoshopstar.com/effects/add-texture-to-improve-artwork/
http://www.psdgraphics.com/backgrounds/chainlink-fence-texture/
http://wetnosewatercolor.blogspot.com/
http://www.freeplansonline.com/doghouseplans/dog-house-plans-1-instructions.php

My main title letters I did myself with a sharpie marker. I took a photo of a piece of cardboard that my dog and I destructed and tore! This was used for my "homeless dog sign". I added a chain link fence and plans for a dog house for more texture and to evoke that there is a responsibility to keeping a dog whether it be a fence to have a dog house for them. The dog tag I had made at Petco and I put Lucky on it to show that some dogs aren't so lucky. I scanned this in and changed the color to a color that suited the poster. My dog is a watercolor picture I found on the internet.

It is your RESPONSIBILITY to take care of your dog and not to leave behind your dog. If you can't handle a dog don't get one or take it to an animal shelter, don't leave it to fend for itself.

Public Service Announcement Poster

So our next project is to create a public service announcement poster of our choice! I've decided to do my poster on telling people not to abandon their dogs/don't let dogs become homeless :( It's a sad subject, but is really close to my heart and I wish people would be more responsible. So anyway here is some of my inspiration...

Plan for Letters

For my Intro to Graphic Design & Illustration class we are to spell our name out of specific letters out of objects. Our teacher suggested we get help from other people, so anyone who is interested in forming some letters and taking some pictures here are the instructions! (the letters need to look like the Optima letters provided with the link below & please take several pictures from different angles and possibly different lighting)

Optima Letters

(Please do not resize the letters unless needed and if you do make sure that they are resized uniformly to maintain their proper shape)

K - Cut the K from the paper & use the inside to get the proper form for the letter. Shape the snow into the letter K standing up. Once the letter is properly shaped form a 3 snowballs and place at the bottom of the K in a pile. REVISED: Well I procrastinated too long :) and the snow started to melt so building the letter standing up didn't work so well, not enough snow. So I decided to dig the K out of the snow to show the ground, with parts of the ground showing around it from where it's melted and I think I like it better!

i - Cut the inside of the i out & use the outside of the letter. Take corn and form/pile into the shape of the letter i. Once the letter is properly shaped you can remove the outside portion of the i. Add some corn cobs to the picture.

m - Cut the inside of the m out & use the outside of the letter. Make macaroni & cheese from the box and form into the m and remove the outside of the m stencil. Place on a black plate and include a spoon!

b - Cut the inside of the b out & use the outside of the letter. Take any color beads and form into the letter, once this is done remove the outside stencil. Add a necklace, bracelet, bookmark, or something made from beads and place in the picture.

e - Cut the inside of the e out & use the outside of the letter. Form the letter on a lite brite in either random colors or some type of pleasing color pattern. Once the letter is done remove the stencil.

r - Cut the inside of the r out & use the outside of the letter. Take SweeTarts Hearts and form the letter, then remove stencil. Place some random hearts outside of the letter & possibly put on a valentines plate or something red or pink.

l - Cut the l from the paper & use the inside of the letter. Make any bright colored jello and after it has jelled cut the l from the jello and place on a platter or plate of your choice.

y - Cut the inside of the y out & use the outside of the letter. Draw/Make a circle like your going to play a game of marbles and form the letter out of marbles inside the circle, remove stencil. Then randomly place some marbles inside & outside of the circle. Possibly take the picture with someone acting like they are shooting their marble.

C - Cut the C out of the paper & use either the inside or the outside whichever you find easier. Trace the letter onto an interesting piece of wood and cut the letter out with a jigsaw. Take some saw dust and pile it around the letter or stain/laquer the letter and take a picture in a pleasing manner to you.

u - Cut the inside of the u out & use the outside of the letter. Take whole flowers or flower petals (possibly valentine colors) and form into the letter. Remove the stencil once arranged pleasing. Could take picture in grass or snow :(. Also a possibility would be to take a picture with a vase of flowers in the picture (possibly take picture from above). REVISED: I used my extra confetti idea from below because I couldn't find any flowers that looked good and weren't expensive.

r - Cut the inside of the r out & use the outside of the letter. Choose a background of your choice and take all colors of crayons (preferably bright ones) and sharpen them for the shavings. Take the shavings and form into the letter, once formed remove stencil. Add some crayons to the picture, maybe a broken one, and maybe a picture colored by a kid.

t - Take the picture of the letter t & use as a reference. Take your favorite shoes and form into the letter t. Possibly add some socks or clothes to the picture for added interest.

i - Take the picture of the letter i & use as a reference. Take many small candles and form into the letter i. The flames will form the letter, so may have to light them and move around to get the proper letter form. Could place on floor or if possible make a bubble bath or just bath and place "floating" candles in bath. (This could be done with rubber duckies too, if the candles don't want to cooperate.)

s - Cut the inside of the s out & use the outside of the letter. Form the letter s out of dog food or dog treats, remove the stencil. Add dog to the picture somehow, if I do it I'm going to have my dog stay and take a picture with her in the background, waiting for me to say she can have it.

Extra - In case the ideas above do not seem to work properly I had also thought of the idea of using confetti and shape the letter or sewing/embroidery/applique the letter. REVISED: I used the confetti idea for the letter u instead of the flower idea.
